Role Description
We seek a creative, enthusiastic, and highly motivated synthetic chemist to join our Applied Synthetic Technologies laboratories in Groton, CT. As part of the Photo-Redox Chemistry team, the successful applicant will contribute, through the development and execution of innovative photo-chemical technologies, to the accelerated advancement of clinical candidates.
Responsibilities
- Understands the goals of Pfizer's active pharmaceutical ingredient strategy for Worldwide Research & Development small molecule projects and enables innovative synthesis and technologies to accelerate the delivery of candidate compounds specifically in the area of photo-redox chemistry. - Critically designs, assesses, and successfully executes synthetic reactions/routes that utilize key technology areas to accelerate delivery of target molecules for projects from mg to kg quantities. - Positively and proactively influences the enablement of novel innovative technologies or methodologies in a range of increasing scale in partnership with other research units or external vendors. - Employs a comprehensive understanding of established and modern synthetic methodologies to drive projects and technology. - Liaise with outsourcing point of contact in the group to ensure efficient transfer of the enabled chemistry allowing for rapid synthesis externally; when applicable, able to manage a pool of remotely located chemists. - Contributes to effective partnerships with other groups within Applied Synthetic Technologies and with other lines, in particular analytical, technology, pharmaceutical sciences and process chemistry groups for efficient delivery of project objectives. - Publish and present research internally and externally to Pfizer.
Qualifications
- Doctoral level degree or equivalent with 0-4 years of experience required. - Highly skilled synthetic chemist with strong expertise in either photo-redox chemistry, flow chemistry, reaction methodology, organometallic chemistry and/or catalysis is strongly recommended. - Prior experience/expertise in photo-redox chemistry or photo-redox reaction in flow is desirable. - Experienced in the application of innovative methodologies for successful execution of highly challenging synthetic chemistry. - Proven track record of creative thinking and consistent delivery as demonstrated by publication/presentation records. - An astute reader of chemical literature with comprehensive knowledge of established and modern synthetic methodologies. - Postdoctoral experience strongly recommended. - Previous experience in mentoring and development of junior scientists or students is a plus.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
