This position is located within TASMG Projects and may be extended or terminated at the discretion of the TASMG Commander.
DUTY LOCATION: 1109th Theater Aviation Sustainment Maintenance Group (TASMG), Groton, CT
JOB
Summary: The purpose of this position is to supervise workers, either directly or through one or more subordinate leaders and/or supervisors, in accomplishing the operations of a distinct organizational unit and to perform associated nonsupervisory work. The occupation and nonsupervisory grade level which best reflects the nature of the overall work operations supervised is Aircraft Mechanic, WG-8852-10.
NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Connecticut Army National Guard.
AREA(S) OF CONSIDERATION:
Area 1: All currently employed full-time permanent and indefinite personnel of the Connecticut Army National Guard.
Must meet Compatible Military Assignment within one year from placement. Wear of the military uniform is mandatory. Direct Deposit is mandatory.
The major duties include, but are not limited to:
Plans weekly or monthly work schedules and sequence of operations.
Assigns tasks to be performed.
Recommends and participates in the selection of personnel to fill vacancies.
Performs the nonsupervisory work of the function as needed.
Implements regulatory safety requirements and ensures that subordinates wear appropriate safety equipment and follow pertinent safety precautions.
GENERAL
Experience: Experience or training which demonstrates that the candidate has the ability to organize assignments for subordinates, estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs; able to explain manuals and work procedures; and to prepare production records, work records and reports.
SPECIALIZED
Experience: Your resume and any other supporting documentation you wish to provide must clearly substantiate you currently possess 36 months of specialized experience in the following:
Experience which demonstrates the ability to plan, direct, and organize work assignments for lower grade personnel.
Experience which required the review of work requirements and establish priorities to meet deadlines.

Experience which demonstrates the ability to supervise or the potential to perform such duties as evidenced by the ability to communicate knowledge of general supervisory concepts, and knowledge of shop processes.
Experience in adapting existing equipment and techniques to new situations.
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED
Experience: Study successfully completed in a college, university, technical or vocational school may be substituted for specialized experience at the rate of one year of study (30 semester hours or 20 classroom hours of instruction per week) for 6 months of experience. Courses must be directly related to the work of the position.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Ability to plan and organize the work of the assigned organization.
Ability to meet deadlines.
Knowledge of aircraft repair functions.
Ability to work with others.
Ability to oversee and train subordinate supervisors, to deal objectively with workers and render sound supervisory decisions.
