Overview
This positon will report to the Director of the Columbia Waterfront Engineering Organization and will interface with the Managers of all the directorates Engineering Departments. The positon will have multiple primary responsibilities intended to assist management in improving organizational performance, resource planning and communication of functional metrics. This position will be centrally located at Eagle Park with frequent travel to the Groton and Quonset Point Shipyard.
Specific areas of responsibility include :
1) Directorate Financial AnalysisReview and analyze cost and schedule metrics to identify performance problems and trends at the department level.
Develop, submit, and maintain Overhead Budgets/Spending Reports.
Compile directorate and manager level dashboards of discrete cost and schedule performance metrics.
2) Department Technical Product Quality (TPQ) Representative.Maintain and implement Directorates TPQ plan.
Advancing TQCR and QIP efforts at the department and directorate levels.
Developing Key Performance Indicators that monitor engineering product quality from a downstream customers perspective.
Coordinating the Directorates Surveillance and Auditing efforts
Contributing to Directorates Organizational Self-Assessment
3) Resource PlanningCoordinating with associated Program Offices on understanding accurate work scope demands and ensuring alignment between recognized workload, program funding, and manpower plans. Actively maintaining department level staffing plans.
Participation in tracking hiring goals, coordinating recruitment activities, and managing the Directorates involvement in the College Intern and Summer Hire Programs
4) Support Continuous Learning ActivitiesFacilitating Learning Events.
Driving timely completion of the Directorates Learning Events
Monitoring the effectiveness and sustainment of corrective actions
ResponsibilitiesThis job requires the candidate to work independently to review department and directorate level performance data, complete root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions to management.
The candidate must be willing to work directly with various department managers and supervisors.
The candidate must be willing to demonstrate versatility in accepting and completing unique assignments.
The selected candidate must have strong Microsoft Excel skills and database management skills to analyze and graph metrics and budgets.
The candidate must be well-organized and capable of handling multiple assignments at the same time.
The selected candidate must be comfortable facilitating various meetings.
Willingness to work occasional overtime is required.
Qualifications
Required:A minimum of three years experience with Electric Boat Business Systems and Performance Monitoring Tools
A Bachelors Degree in Management, Engineering, or similar is desired.
Internal candidates must be from organizations outside of Operations (Casciano/Gabriel)
Preferred:Experience with the MDD-00664 TLS/DLLS processes is desired.
